Sights & Sounds

INTRODUCTIONSights & Sounds

Sights & Sounds is a modular interactive exhibit system for presenting information in a game-like format. Sights & Sounds consists of up to sixteen individual graphics (photos, illustrations, etc.) and corresponding sound segments (narrations, descriptions, or sound effects). The Sights & Sounds hardware can be mounted in table top units, wall mounded or in a larger exhibit structures.

Solid State electronics control the operation and reproduction of CD quality sounds for Sights & Sounds. Recorded sound segments are saved onto a Flash memory card. Since there are no moving parts, the problems of broken mechanisms and munched audio tapes is eliminated, thus providing reliable and consistent operation for many years.

OPERATION -

Sights & Sound combines our FlashAudio digital audio player and our GameWorks controller into a single unit. While the basic approach uses illuminated pushbuttons, audio output and a graphic panel to form an interactive game, Sights & Sound's flexibility allow it to be use in a wide variety of interactive exhibit applications.FlashAudio

SIMPLE GAMES

Simple interactive game on any topic can be accomplished by using Sights & Sounds 16 illuminated pushbuttons and recorded audio segments. Two simple types of game interactions are: Matching, Category Matching (true or false). Who Dung It?

In matching games, visitors are challenged to match items associated with a particular subject. For example, animal sounds with the cooresponding animal. Category Matching matches the subjects with two or more categories (e.g. true or false, fish or mammal, diesel or electric or steam).Category Match

In addition to producing the sounds associated with the subject matter, Sights & Sounds' audio can be used to introduce the subject, guide the visitor, provide hints, and congratulate the visitors.

Sights & Sounds will wait for the Start button (or any other) to be pressed, at which time a spoken introduction can be played explaining its operation. Following the introduction, an audio description of one of the items depicted in the graphics is played and the visitor is challenged to press the button under the correct graphic. If the correct button is pressed, a positive reinforcement sound is played and the next description is presented. If the incorrect button is pressed a "zap" sound is played and the button under the correct graphic is lit. The sequence continues until all eight descriptions are presented. Then the visitor is rewarded with a short tune if all correct answers were given and then they are thanked for their participation.

HOUSING UNIT

Sights & Sounds is available with a custom built housing or none at all.

The option of no housing is for use in existing structures or for installation in a custom built exhibit housing. In this case, SIGNAL INNOVA provides all the components and connectors ready for installation. Installation service is also available, as is custom fabrication and installation in a housing to meet your requirements.
